Antifreeze is a concentrated product that stops the fluid in the cooling system from freezing in cold weather or boiling on very hot days. Coolant is the ready-mixed, ready-to-use fluid made by combining antifreeze, distilled water and additives. It regulates engine temperature, protects against corrosion and rust, lubricates and cleans the system and helps prevent serious breakdowns.
Don’t mix them: follow the manufacturer’s specification
Different coolants should not be mixed: they contain additives with incompatible technologies that react with each other. Colour is not a standard: what counts is the vehicle manufacturer’s specification. It is sold concentrated or ready to use, and should be changed as often as the manufacturer recommends. We also stock power steering fluid and brake fluid.
